Learn Practical and Effective Mental Health Skills in a Supportive Group
There are many benefits to evidence-based online mental health skills groups: it’s an opportunity to learn and practice mental health skills in a supportive environment, to get valuable feedback from group facilitators and peers who share similar experiences, and the group provides accountability that increases the motivation to learn and practice skills. The online format makes it more convenient for clients and research suggests results are similar to in-person skills groups.
This can be a very good option for those who already have an individual therapist, but who would like some additional structured support in developing and using science-backed mental health skills.
I offer a 10-week online mental health skills group program where group members learn skills rooted in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). These skills are shown to work well for those experiencing difficulty with emotions, symptoms of depression or anxiety, and for those feeling stuck in patterns of thoughts and behaviors that interfere with their own well-being. The skills group is an excellent format in which to engage in meaningful change.

What to expect
Initial 45-minute goal setting session
Prior to beginning group sessions, we will meet once individually for a 45-minute session in which we will collaboratively identify your goals for the 10-week group therapy experience.
10 weekly group sessions
The first portion of each session is devoted to reviewing skills from the previous session and discussing experiences practicing the skills.
The second portion of each session is devoted to learning and discussing a new skill. All necessary handouts/worksheets are provided.
The 10-week cycle covers a different DBT or ACT mental health skill each week.
